Crimson and light blue are the colors used for Maintenance. The insignia shape is that of the silhouette of a hex nut symbolizing the maintenance mission. The arrowhead at center refers to the unit's World War II service for which it was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation and French Croix de Guerre with Palm. The hawk's head denotes the unit's home location and origin in Iowa, the "Hawkeye State."
